-It is a cylindrical percussion instrument also called Chende. These instruments are used in arts and religion in the state of Kerala. This musical instrument accompaniment of musical instruments like Khatali, Koodiyattam in dance and worship activities in the state of Kerala. Chenda drummers suspended so that it hangs vertically to the top of the leather wrapped drums. Players use two sticks to hit the top of the drum. Chenda is divided into 3 types: Uruttu Chenda (for playing variations), Veeku Chenda (to play the basic rhythm) and Acchan Chenda.
